Barefoot and Bitless

Jenny Harvey

Jenny has been riding and looking after horses since she was 5 years old.

She holds her BHS Stage 3 certificate, and has been training as an Equine Podiatrist since 2005, with a break in 2007/8 for a year in Australia/ New Zealand.

In NZ she was a working pupil at Kate Hewlett's Riding Centre, learning the elements of Holistic Horsemanship from Marshall Kent, who trained with Ray Hunt.  She had already attended an introductory 5 day course at Kelly Marks Intelligent Horsemanship in 2005, and has continued to study Horsemanship with Laura Domenica, (http://www.connectedhorsemanship.com/) and more recently, Steve Halfpenny (http://www.silversand.com.au/)

She continued training as an EP with EPAUK on her return to NI, and is working to complete the required syllabus.  (http://www.equinepodiatrytraining.co.uk/)

An Equine Podiatrist is much more than a barefoot trimmer.  Their training, as well as detailed knowledge of the equine foot, covers pathologies such as laminitis and navicular disease, and also nutrition, environment and horse handling.  As a member of EPAUK, a minimum of 5 CPD training days is required each year, guaranteeing that EPs are up to date with developments in the evolving world of barefoot trimming.

Jenny works throughout Northern Ireland and is happy to travel to the South by arrangement.
